It’s been much more hype than substance for Arsenal FC this summer transfer window, as they have yet to sign a single new player this silly season. However, there has been of transfer gossip to around lately, as reports claim the north London side have been extremely busy working the market.
Hopefully, there will be actual signings to talk about between now and when training camp opens up in July, but until then, here are some of the top trending news items and transfer narratives in the Arsenal online community on this Thursday. It shapes up to be a very intriguing and interesting transfer window for the club, who have a high wage bill, and could be financially constrained in the market.
As Jay-Z would say “H to the Izzo, V to the izay, what can I say about dude, I gets bizay.” Armando Izzo is a 27-year-old Italian international who earned his first and only cap in March when he was subbed on versus Lichtenstein. The
Everton, who really splashed the cash last summer, are reportedly battling Arsenal for the Torino centre back, and the bidding supposedly starts around €25 million. Izzo played in every Serie A league match but one last season, going the full 90 in all but two.
Elsewhere, Celtic left back Kieran Tierney is probably the player who has been linked most often with Arsenal this summer transfer window, but there seems to be a negotiating chasm here preventing a deal from getting done. That great divide is of course over money, with reports of Arsenal submitting a £18 million bid, while Celtic are holding out for £25m.
