They could have both just stayed in the Valley of the Sun and avoided some of this harsh Midwestern winter. Both Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly will serve as pregame analysts for ESPN tomorrow night for the National Championship game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Meyer and Kelly are reuniting at the home of the Arizona Cardinals just 10 days after Meyer’s Buckeyes defeated Kelly’s Fighting Irish 44-28 in the Fiesta Bowl.
Urban Meyer, who rivals Nick Saban to be ESPN’s most favorite coach (don’t forget Dabo Swinney, Bristol is going hard and heavy in promoting Dabo whenever they can this year too) is 50-4 during his first four years at Ohio State.
Among coaches with at least ten years experience, he currently holds the highest winning percentage of anyone in the nation.
There were multiple reports that Urban Meyer could have had the Notre Dame job at the time that Kelly took the position. However, it’s worked out really well for Brian Kelly in South Bend and everyone involved. He’s now the nation’s currently active career wins holder with the retirement of Frank Beamer.
Urban Meyer and Brian Kelly will appear as guests on SportsCenter, College Football Live and College Gameday from University of Phoenix Stadium. U of P must be a college football powerhouse; given how huge and how nice their stadium is. I kid! I kid!
But seriously folks, University of Phoenix, Arizona St. Grand Canyon University- that metro area has cornered the market on “you’re accepted here!” schools
ESPN analysts Brian Griese and Chris Spielman, along with head coaches Larry Fedora (North Carolina), Jim McElwain (Florida) Will Muschamp (South Carolina), Pat Narduzzi (Pittsburgh) and Willie Taggart (South Florida) will provide in-depth analysis of the game as it happens from a film room equipped with multiple camera angles, clicker technology and telestration at ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters
