The University of Michigan football program will be featured in a 13-minute segment aired on CBS’ 60 Minutes this Sunday, Nov. 18, at approximately 7:30 p.m. EST, following the networks NFL doubleheader. The feature hosted by Armen Keteyian looks at the business of college football.
Athletic Director Dave Brandon, head football coach Brady Hoke, quarterback Denard Robinson and safety Jordan Kovacs were interviewed for the piece. In addition, Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and the Towson University football program are part of the storyline.
CBS spent the early part of the season at Michigan football games – Alabama, Air Force and Massachusetts – and attended a fall practice and youth day at Michigan Stadium. The network also filmed around the Ann Arbor community and University.
CBS has been airing 60 Minutes for 45 years; this is the first time that Michigan football will be featured on the show. University of Michigan graduate and broadcasting great Mike Wallace was the lead correspondent for 37 years on 60 Minutes before announcing his retirement in 2006. He continued to work on a limited ‘emeritus’ basis until 2008. Wallace passed away in April 2012.
