Kevin Knox to Kentucky Seems Very Unlikely, Despite BBN Cookies Reward

It’s going to take a lot more than BBN (Big Blue Nation) cookies to land 5-star uncommitted prospect Kevin Knox. The blue chip small forward from Tampa has narrowed his choices down to three schools, and they’re the bluest of college basketball’s blue bloods.

According to 247Sports, Knox’s top three are Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina, with the Blue Devils an overwhelming favorite. The Crystal Ball Prediction matrix, read into this what you will, shows Duke at 84%, UK 11% and Carolina 5%.

He has set a deadline for his decision though- “after the Jordan Brand Classic, probably the week after that,” Kevin Knox said at McDonald’s All-American Game Media Day. The Jordan Brand is April 14th, so expect the decision not next week, but more likely the week after that.

Nick Richards, P.J. Washington and Jarred Vanderbilt all made Kevin Knox BBN cookies during McDonald’s All-American Game week, and gave them to him as an incentive to get him to commit to UK.

McDAAG week is all about recruiting, so this was a major talking point.

“It was a little funny, I had a good time. I didn’t eat none of the cookies,” Knox said, but when pressed if that was a sign of anything Knox said it was not:

“No, I’m just not a really big sweets guy”

Kevin Knox also said that no one school is in the lead right now:

“Not really, I’m just keeping it level right now, having a good time with recruiting and talking to the coaches.”

Although, it’s worth noting that many, if not most, or even all, high profile undecideds usually say that all of the remaining schools are in the mix, and that they’re not leaning any specific way. At least that’s what’s par for the course at this stage in the cycle.

Knoz also had a lot of praise for both John Calipari…

“He’s a great guy with a great sense of humor, every time I’m around him, he’s always laughing, making jokes”

And for Kentucky in general, and the system they employ….

“They like to run in transition that’s something I really like to do. They have a lot of good players coming in next year and I get along with all of them, they like to run to, and that’s just something we get along.”
