Christian Eriksen Reportedly Snubbed a Manchester United Offer

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen shocked his teammates earlier this summer when he publicly revealed his intentions to find a new challenge elsewhere. In the final year of his deal and having reportedly rejected a contract extension, the Dane finds his club future very much uncertain at the moment.

He had heavily been linked to Manchester United, but nothing happened before the transfer window closed in the U.K. ten days ago. According to one news source, Eriksen rejected an opportunity to leave Spurs for a fellow big six rival club.

Goal makes reference to “Spanish news outlet Diario Madridista claims that his ambition is to play for Real Madrid and he apparently snubbed United in the hope that Zinedine Zidane will make a move for him.”

A move to Madrid seems very unlikely as the Bernabeu got all of their summer transfer business, including some really high-priced shopping at Eriksen’s position, done early. The transfer window remains open in Spain, as well as Germany and Italy among other nations until Sept 2.

However, there just isn’t a lot of chatter and rumors out there right now about where Christian Eriksen could go, so he might end up staying put in north London.

Maybe that’s the best for him right now, but it won’t be so great for the club, as they could risk losing him next summer on a free transfer.

That could still be avoided of course if Spurs find a way to either nail down a contract extension or sell him in the January transfer window.
