Nemanja Matic scored his first goal as a member of Manchester United, and it was as memorable as anybody could ever ask for. The Serbian provided the decisive strike in United’s 3-2 win at Crystal Palace, and it came in the 91′ to cap a comeback from a 2-0 second half deficit at Selhurst Park in south London.

Matic’s “Fergie Time” scoring strike was a thing of beauty too, have a look:

United also got scoring from defender Chris Smalling and striker Romelu Lukaku (who provided the equalizer).

“I feel we showed character when we were down,” Nemanja Matic said in postgame.

“I’m happy that we take three points.”

The summer acquisition from Chelsea also provided some insight into what manager Jose Mourinho told his players at halftime, to help rally them and avoid a potentially very embarrassing loss to a side that is in serious danger of relegation.

“He (Mourinho) said that we have to do more,” Matic revealed in a postgame television interview.

“He said he’s happy with how we fight, but it was not enough. We had to do more to win this game. We did in the second half after the second goal for Crystal Palace. We did exactly what he wanted from us.”
