Being a Generation Xer from Chicago, when I hear the name Isaiah Thomas, I think of Isaiah Thomas, the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Hoosiers, St. Joseph’s legend. (Yes, I know he’s a terrible flop as a GM, Coach, but hey, we’re trying to be Positive Pete here, not a Negative Ned)
For today’s NBA, and for Millenials in general, Isaiah Thomas is a legend-in-the-making with the Boston Celtics. (Don’t get us started on how the two Reggie Jacksons, or all the Michael Bennetts, can be equally confusing too)
Thus, in honor of the upcoming NBA Playoffs, we now bring you:
“Ice-aiah,” an Isaiah Thomas ice sculpture which will be unveiled and on display at Frost Ice Loft at Faneuil Hall during Game 1 of the team’s post-season matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, April 16th.
It will remain on display throughout the duration of the Boston Celtics ’ Playoff run. Enjoy the photos:
FROST Ice Loft, located in Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall, houses New England’s only permanent indoor bar designed and furnished entirely of ice. You know how to get there- just take the Freedom Trail.
Maintained at a brisk 21 degrees, entry is permitted to people of all ages, It’s also half off with a Boston Celtics postseason game ticket stub.
NBA on TNT Analyst Dennis Scott on the Boston Celtics ’ chances in the Eastern Conference:
“They just need to have trust in the process put in place by Head Coach Brad Stevens. They are who they are – the team is the superstar, not any one individual. When they play as a team, they are at their best.”
TNT’s Brent Barry on the Atlanta Hawks/Boston Celtics match-up: “It is a fantastic series… They don’t have superstar talent…but these are two teams that are super fragile in terms of the makeup but don’t really kill themselves in the way they play. The Hawks have experience from last year as one of their advantages. I’m super intrigued about it. Boston needed home court. They are fairly matched up with great coaching on either side.”
