Alphonso Davies: 15-Year-Old Winger Scouted by Manchester United

It’s never too early to talk about the next transfer window and you’re never too young to be scouted as potential reinforcements for the youth system. It’s time to learn about Manchester United‘s latest target- Vancouver Whitecaps left-footed winger Alphonso Davies, who at just 15 years old, recently became the second youngest starter in Major League Soccer history.

A scout from Manchester United was in the attendance for the Vancouver Whitecaps game against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night, according to reports. Jorge Alvial, Manchester United’s scout for the Americas who was at the game, worked for Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and followed the manager to his new club

Davies is also the first player born in the 2000s to play in an MLS match.

At the time of his signing, Davies became the youngest player signed to a USL contract at 15 years, 3 months. Davies made his professional debut for Whitecaps FC 2 at the age of 15 years, 5 months in April 2016. On May 15, 2016, Davies scored his first professional goal, making him the youngest goal scorer in USL history at 15 years, 6 months.
