(Update: Andrew Shaw being investigated by the league over usage of profanities and gay slurs)
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final will certainly be remembered for the midnight goal by Andrew Shaw. The Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins began playing at 7:30 CDT Wednesday night. They ended in the third overtime with Andrew Shaw deflecting a shot past Tuukka Rask for the game-winner. Although some observers initially thought the goal should have been credited to Dave Bolland.
Either way, it was an exhausting game for fans in Chicago and Boston who followed the game for 5 hours on Twitter. Andrew Shaw then dropped an F-bomb on national television in celebration of the big victory.
Some language NSFW
I don’t know how/why this happens…but once NBC Sports signs off, the YouTube video below cuts immediately to a Sports Nutz sketch. And we get to see former Blackhawks reporter Susannah Collins (fired in the wake of the “Blackhawks had a tremendous out of sex this season” on air gaffe) go at it with actress Sam Raddock. (Again language very NSFW) The skit is from around the time that former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton allegedly had an altercation involving firearms.
And the bit is a send-up of that.
Andrew Shaw!
Wait, say that again in ALL CAPS TO EXPRESS EXCITEMENT! SHAWZER!
Congratulations Andrew Shaw, you have now etched yourself into the hearts and minds of Chicago sports fans forever. Both on and off the ice. Just like teammate Patrick Kane.
