The story of the night in Evanston was Purdue’s twin towers of A.J. Hammons and Isaac Haas. (Here’s video of the media availability with both of them following the game)
“We try to get the ball inside no matter who we go against,” Purdue Head Coach Matt Painter said.
“We’ve had a tough time against Olah in the past but tonight we were able to get the best of him.”
Kudos to Matt Painter for calling him Olah, not “Olaf” as almost every single NU opponent seems to do when they come into Evanston. Olah is a junior center from Romania, not an 11th century Norwegian King who was later canonized.
Olah is also not a cartoon snowman who likes warm hugs. Anyway here is the video of Matt Painter in his postgame press conference.
Purdue recorded its 39th road win since the start of the 2007-08 season, the fourth most in Big Ten play in that span, just one behind Ohio State’s 40 for third place. Matt Painter ‘s team is now 12-0 this year when attempting more free throws than its opponent.
