Purdue improved to 124-46 all-time against NU and avoided the school’s first three-game losing streak to Northwestern since 2003-06. The 124 wins are the most against any opponent in school history. So this win was big for Purdue; especially since the Wildcats came to West Lafayette last year and beat the Boilers on their senior day.
Tonight, Welsh-Ryan Arena was approximately 55-70% Boiler backers, as the “Boiler Up” chant was heard loudly throughout the night.
Purdue is 6-3 in Big Ten play for the first time since the 2010-11 season (7-2). The victory surpasses last year’s win total in Big Ten play. In second place, they are very much a contender.
