Despite the cessation of his recent streak, Jake Arrieta is still transcendent right now. He pitched seven innings of two-hit ball last night lowering his ERA to 1.09, and maintaining his record at 25-1 over his last 31 starts. The Cubs’ streak of 23 consecutive victories in games that Jake Arrieta started finally came to an end Monday night, while Arrieta himself earned a no decision. Arrieta shares the major-league record for games the team won in which he started with Kris Medlen (2010-12 for the Braves).
Arrieta is also 20-0 with an 0.94 ERA in his last 23 starts. You can look at his numbers since the second half of last season, and find more out of this world figures.
The reigning National League Cy Young Award Winner put up numbers that were insanely good as well in April too. Anyway you slice it, Arrieta, with his mastery of five different pitchers, is beyond off the charts right now, and has been on another planet for quite some time.
