Who will succeed Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager? Well, there’s been links Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ryan Giggs among others. That last name intrigues us the most as Giggs’ name keeps coming up as a potential successor to Garry Monk at Swansea.

This narrative is starting to take off; so much so that Van Gaal was asked about it in his press conference today by a reporter.

Read what he had to say here. Watch his reaction in the presser video here (Ryan Giggs talk comes at around the five minute mark)

Like we said, Ryan Giggs potentially taking over the Swan talk is definitely trending Friday and now it into match day on Saturday. Perhaps it might even become a distraction at Bournemouth if there’s legitimate fire to accompany all the smoke. NBC Sports covered the Giggs news in their transfer column:

As for Giggs, 42, leaving his role as Louis Van Gaal‘s assistant and taking the reins at Swansea City, this is really interesting. Giggsy has spent his entire career at United, having made the most appearances (963) in club history and is the most decorated player in soccer history.

Yet, there’s something to be said for the Welsh winger flying the nest and returning to his homeland and getting a head-coaching gig in the Premier League as the only experiencedhe has as the main man was a handful of games at the end of the 2013-14 season where he stood in on a caretaker basis for United following David Moyes‘ dismissal.

ESPN FC covered the Giggsy rumors too. With Sir Ian Darke saying the Ryan Giggs could be tempted by the opportunity to replace Garry Monk.

So stay tuned, or “watch this space” as Ed Woodward likes to say.
