Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho was a top trending term on Twitter today; and with very good reason. His booming free kick goal was absolutely transcendent. Watch and admire this “OMG! how did he do that? No way! He really just converted that somehow?!” moment.
You just don’t beat a great goalkeeper like Petr Cech too often, and you certainly don’t do it from a sizable distance like this.
Liverpool now lead 2-1.

Absolutely marvelous. Coutinho equalized here for Liverpool in the first half’s added injury time. The Reds would go on to win 4-3. It you feel like maybe you’ve seen this story before it’s because you have. Coutinho had the best looking goal of opening weekend a year ago as well. His beautiful, booming scoring strike from 25 yards out gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
Have a look see at that one again:

Side note, Coutinho received a 9/10 in a few outlets’ individual player ratings for this match. Jurgen Klopp may be the star at Liverpool, but Coutinho has definitely cemented his place as the team’s true star player.
