Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp suffered his first defeat as Reds Manager today as Crystal Palace beat his side 2-1. Klopp noticed the droves of fair weather Liverpool fans who left Anfield early. He also put those early exiting supporters on notice.
“Eighty-two minutes – game over,” said Klopp in his post match press conference.
“I turned around and I felt pretty alone at this moment. We have to decide when it is over.”
“I am not disappointed about this, the fans leaving, they have reasons, but we are responsible that nobody can leave the stadium a minute before the last whistle because everything can happen.”
“Between 82 minutes and 94 you can make eight goals, if you want, but you have to work for it.”
“That is what we have to show and we didn’t.”
Klopp is spot on here. Given the fabulous reputation that Liverpool fans have worldwide, not to mention the tremendous reputation that accompanies the match day experience at The Kop. This development is also surprising, given that 35,000 (allegedly) Liverpool fans tracked his flight from Germany to Liverpool a month ago when he arrived as newly appointed manager.
Did the interest really fade that fast?
