BREAKING: Bruce Weber possibly leaving Kansas State for Marquette?
Illini basketball has a NIT tip-off at Clemson in about an hour from now. I know a 10 AM CST start??? Seriously??? Well, the NIT has no chance competing with the NCAA Tournament directly, so what do you expect? Did you see how poorly attended the first Illini basketball NIT game at Boston University was?
So if you’re not extremely excited about the game today (I don’t blame you) and if you don’t look at basketball as a morning thing (it’s not. It’s not an afternoon thing either. It’s a night thing) then you can take solace in this…
This Illini basketball season has been just as successful, if not more so than the Iowa Hawkeyes season. Seriously. Sounds pretty crazy when you realize how Illinois had the nation’s worst offense for the month of January, and Iowa was ranked #10 in the nation. So a NIT #2 seed and first round win versus the a play-in game berth and loss…..six in one hand, a half dozen in the other.
This week Twitter released a feature that allows you to look up the first ever tweet ever posted by any account in the world.
Mine was getting about getting excited for an upcoming Chicago 2016 Summer Olympics initiative! LOL! Hey, the Chicago 2016 committee picked me to be the city’s sports blogger. (This certainly did not help the ultimately doomed bid) I quit a long time before the bid failed. So it was bad times all around.
Hilarity ensued. Look at the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA. Tragically comic. (Find yours here) Anyways, here’s what the Illini basketball account produced:
“Illini fans, click here and vote for THE REAL Assembly Hall! https://bit.ly/8t6nR”
Some ALL CAPS, and some direct smack talk at the Indiana Hoosiers facility! I love it! I wish the Illini basketball Twitter account tweeted like this all the time.
