The English Premier League is quite famous and popular amongst football lovers all over the world. If you want to learn some interesting facts about the Premier League, then you have definitely come to the right place.  

In the year 1992, 20th of February, the Premier League was officially formed. However, English top flight football has been around since 1888. As it stands, only 20 clubs are allowed to take part in this prestigious league.

Currently, the top clubs taking part in 2019/2020 season include the following, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City,  Leicester, Newcastle, Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Watford, Arsenal, Sheffield United, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, AFC Bournemouth, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester United have the record for having won the league more times than any other team in England, at 13. They also lead with the most all time league titles, at 20. Most games won in a row in the EPL is a record held jointly, by Manchester City and Liverpool, the latter of which tied the milestone just last year.

Alan Shearer holds the record for most scored goals in the Premier League, with 283 career goals. The club with the biggest stadium again happens to be Manchester United. Their home stadium, Old Trafford, can hold a capacity of up to 70,000 people. 

When it comes to goal scoring machines, the biggest away win to ever been witnessed in the league was 9-0, and it came this season when after Leicester City mercilessly thrashed Southampton FC. Manchester City hold the record for the most points in one single season. They were able to secure a whopping 100 points during the 2017/2018 season.

Meanwhile Arsenal are the only team that have ever finished a season unbeaten, accomplishing that in 2003/2004. The record for most goals scores in a season also belong to the citizens. Manchester City was able to score 106 goals during that famed 2017/2018 campaign. 

The record for fastest to score a goal in a Premier League game is held by Shane Long, who got it done just after seven seconds in a game against Watford. The youngest to ever have played in the league is Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot. He made his debut at the age of 16 years and 30 days old while playing for Fulham against Wolves.

Lastly, the oldest player to ever take to the pitch in Premier League history is Manchester City’s goalkeeper John Burridge, against Newcastle on 29th April 1995. Since the premier league was formed Everton has the record for having lost the most matches, having suffered defeat in 371 matches all-time.
