Lots of transfer talk right now involving Manchester United managerial candidates. It’s becoming increasing clear that whatever Louis van Gaal is doing, it’s not working. It almost seems like he’s just living on his past reputation right now.
United’s recent struggles have led the club to escalate talk with Pep Guardiola’s camp.
At the same time, another one of Van Gaal’s proposed successors, Ryan Giggs, is now being linked to the Swansea City job.
All the while, Van Gaal still has another year left on his deal once this season concludes. So where does this leave everybody?
The Sunday Mirror is taking the Old Trafford potential future manager situation in a whole different direction. According to the Mirror, United will give
“Ryan Giggs fresh assurances that he is still in line to become their next manager.
Giggs, 42, has seen his close pal Gary Neville installed as Valencia boss and the vacant Swansea job could be of interest to him to gain managerial experience.
But United will give him a cast-iron guarantee that the succession plan for him to take over from Louis van Gaal remains in place.
And the Old Traffford giants are likely to offer Van Gaal a one-year extension to take him to the summer of 2018, despite the Reds’ disastrous Champions League exit last week.
