Manchester United have moved up back to third in the Premier League, partially due to the heroics of Robin van Persie on Wednesday night as the Red Devils won at home versus Burnley by the score of three to one. Van Persie scored the third goal on a penalty kick.
All was well that evening on the pitch, but the next morning Van Persie encountered some drama off the pitch.
According to the Daily Mail: Manchester United striker Robin van Persie was pulled over by police on Thursday morning while on his way to the club’s training ground.
The Dutchman…was stopped in his Range Rover as he made his way to the Premier League side’s Aon Training Complex. A female police officer spoke to the 31-year-old for a few minutes before letting him link up with the rest of his United team-mates without punishing the forward.
Van Persie was not cited and he was not punished. It doesn’t appear that he will be charged with a crime. It is still unclear the reason why Van Persie was pulled over and questioned by police.
