Manchester United Transfer Talk: Mike Maignan, Joao Felix

The rebuild of Manchester United could definitely take some time, so get ready and dig your heels in for that. The upshot is that we’ll have a summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings.

And with Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already, the time is right for some Red Devils transfer talk on this lovely Tuesday. For the first edition of United transfer talk go to this link. We begin with the latest on potential David de Gea replacements.

De Gea’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, and if he doesn’t move this year or sign an extension with the United, the club will lose him on a free transfer next summer.

In a previous edition of MUFC transfer talk, we spotlighted the prospect of AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, a 20-year-old goalkeeping prodigy.

In this edition, we cover Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who kept 15 clean sheets and helped his side reach second place in Ligue 1, on the strength of the French top flight’s best defensive record with just 33 goals conceded this past season.

Various English tabloids have covered United’s pursuit of Maignan, with the club already in contact, working on negotiations.

According to the Daily Record, the deal could be worth about £31 million.

Next we turn to the latest surrounding now long time transfer target Joao Felix, who is also wanted by Manchester City and Real Madrid. United’s interest in the Benfica winger has been very well documented. According to the Daily Mirror, Felix will be monitored by scouts from both Manchester clubs when his side, Portugal, takes on Switzerland tomorrow night in the UEFA Nations League semi-final in Porto.

The teenager’s valuation is reported to be in the neighborhood of £120 million ($150m).
