It continues to be a very exciting summer at Manchester United, with plenty of topics to discuss. What offseason, right?
So let’s take a spin through the latest news and notes items making the rounds on the internet today.
–Jose Mourinho got his pre-World Cup wish as Nemanja Matic now gets to go on holiday with Serbia crashing out of the tournament early.
Although his national team saw their World Cup campaign end at the earliest possible stage, Matic was still in good spirits enough to do a shirt swap with his midfield mate on the club level, Fred.
The two United midfielders had a friendly chat and did a kit exchange after yesterday’s group stage clash between Brazil and Serbia. After the now current favorite to claim the tournament title beat Serbia 2-0, Fred posted a photo on Instagram thanking Matic for gifting him his shirt.
Matic is the first United player at the World Cup to be sent home early; 10 others still have a chance of ending their tournament in a celebration with Jules Rimet.

-The all time leading scorer for both Manchester United and England, Wayne Rooney, is apparently confirming news of his transfer to D.C. United with the tweet pic above. The Major League Soccer club will reportedly make it official later today, and hold a news conference with “the white Pele” on Monday.
Rooney is expected to begin training with his new club later this week.
-Remember the summer of 2014 when German international Toni Kroos snubbed United to join Real Madrid? Well, try, try, try again.
Spanish outlet AS reports that Mourinho told club Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward during a recent meeting that he wants to partner Kroos with Pogba the midfield.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for this one to happen though.
