David de Gea is trending today for all the wrong reasons. There’s a lot of noise about him right now, but here’s what we actually know, as of right now:
-De Gea has been named by a protected witness in court documents which claim he contracted a prostitute against her will.
-He stands accused of organizing a meeting between a prostitute and two footballers at which a woman claims she was sexually abused.
-The Spain press conference later today, in advance of their opening Euros match against Czech Republic on the 13th, will not include De Gea.

-UPDATE: All De Gea questions were blocked at the press conference.

-If De Gea does make any public statement on these issues, they will be words that have been pre-approved by his legal team.
-Previous reports that he was sent home from the Spanish National Team are not true. Earlier claims that this situation will end his 2016 Euro Championships campaign are incorrect as of now. According to Guillem Balague, one of the most respected football journalists in Spain, he’s still with the team.
De Gea has not been sent home. He is in the hotel with the national team. There is a court case on the way. Innocent till proven guilty

This report originated with Spanish website El Diario, who claim exclusivity in this report.
Here’s more from The Sun, which writes that the allegations state that De Gea, “arranged for his former Spanish under-21 teammate Iker Muniain and an unnamed player to meet the prostitute for sexual relations against her will.”
The Independent also has a story on it, informing us that “the allegations emerged in a statement given by a protected witness in a rape case against pornography producer Ignacio Fernandez Allende – also known as Torbe.”
We’ll be updating this post, and adding additional posts on the De Gea situation as it develops today.
