Manchester United forward Anthony Martial had been slated to start his side’s regular season finale at home against Watford, but instead found himself scratched from the lineup just a few hours beforehand.
With just under three hours to go until kick-off, in a match eventually won by United 1-0, numerous eye witnesses saw Martial being driven away from Old Trafford.
MUTV, the club’s official website video channel, later confirmed that the Frenchman is out injured, after his having suffered an unspecified injury during training yesterday.
Martial, who has seen his role and playing time severely diminish since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, has been heavily linked in transfer rumors. Juventus, Bayern Munich and especially Chelsea, have all been mentioned as likely landing spots for the the youngster acquired on summer transfer window deadline day, 2015.
For the season, he has 26 starts, 18 substitute appearances and 11 goals. However, he has not scored since Sanchez arrived, and has only made two starts over the course of the past three months.
