Manchester United will host West Bromwich Albion Sunday afternoon, and despite the vast space in between the two sides (#2 and dead last) in the Premier League table, a tightly contested battle is still expected. Or at least Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is “surprised” by where the Baggies find currently find themselves: the very bottom of the table, ten points from safety.
“The quality, the experience of many of the players, the squad, the stability of the past years, it is a surprise for me they find themselves in this position,” Mourinho said.
West Brom have already sacked Alan Pardew and moved on to Darren Moore, and they are almost certain to be dropped.
“In our case, we come from a big result and during the week,” Mourinho continued.
“I was trying to fight that result by working well and hard and making the players understand it is not enough to deserve second, we need the points and to finish fourth, we need four or five points but to finish second we need much more than that and after three important points we have to try to do these three and closer to the end of the season and second position.”
Well, let’s take a look at who Mourinho might select on Sunday.
Alexis Sanchez Romelu Lukaku Jesse Lingard
Paul Pogba Nemanja Matic Juan Mata
Ashley Young Eric Bailly Chris Smalling Antonio Valencia
David de Gea
