Manchester United Misses Out as Adrien Rabiot Joins Juventus Instead

Maurizio Sarri has finally beaten Manchester United in 2019. Unveiled as the new manager of Juventus earlier today, reports have now surfaced about who his first addition to his new club will be.

Adrien Rabiot, who made it clear that he was going to make a decision between Juve and United, has elected to take his talents to Turin. According to a Football Italia report corroborating the claims made earlier by Sky Italia, the ex Paris Saint-Germain midfielder will sign a five-year deal with the Serie A champions eight years running.

The deal is worth €7 million per season plus bonuses, and a €10m signing-on fee.

In 2019, Sarri lost to United in the FA Cup fifth round and battled United to a draw at Old Trafford in the season’s closing weeks, but he is victorious here in this transfer battle. For United, it’s more disappointment in what has been a woeful summer transfer window thus far.

For Rabiot, well, his decision is quite understandable given the rich history and tradition of success that Juventus has had recently. Plus, it’s an opportunity to play with Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit in a very crowded midfield that also added Aaron Ramsey this year.

No matter how it works out for Rabiot though, it can’t be worse than the nightmarish stint he had in Paris where was an absolute non-factor.

And for United, they’ll have to look at other midfield targets now. Juan Mata did re-sign yesterday, but Ander Herrera has left and Paul Pogba could follow him out the door still.
