Liverpool FC are currently getting the third best Premier League title odds of any team. Their last former manager, Brendan Rodgers, believes that the Reds are on the cusp of a championship too. Rodgers was replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October 2015, and landed as the boss of Scottish Premiership powerhouse Celtic.
He’s kept up on Liverpool and praised the side in an interview with TalkSPORT.
When asked how close his former team is to winning the league Brendan Rodgers responded
“Very close, very close. I think that it’s just unfortunate the other day [in the 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth]. I thought they were excellent in the first half.”
“You get to 3-1 — I’ve had similar games there myself when we looked like we were in control and then you lose them.
“The players that were there when I was there have got greater experience now — [Philippe] Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva. These are guys that have been through it.
“Obviously they’ve got one game a week, they can really focus on that, and I think for me they will be very, very close.”
“As I’ve said, he’s done great Jurgen, he’s got them really working, got them focused and they’ve got big quality in the squad so I’m sure they’ll be in with a great chance.”
Liverpool are currently in third place, four points adrift of table setters Chelsea. They will next take on West Ham United on Sunday.
