Liverpool FC Unveil £40m Signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool FC have officially unveiled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain today as their fourth signing of the summer transfer window. The Ox comes over for £40 million, which is a very steep price to pay for a guy that was only a part time first teamer. In fact, the fee would have been a club record, had Anfield not signed Naby Keita earlier this week.

Earlier in the week, we saw reports that the Ox reached an agreement to join Chelsea, but he obviously turned that down, wanting to head to LFC instead.

Oxlade-Chamberlain featured 132 times in Premier League play for the Gunners during his six years with the club. It remains to be seen how different his playing time situation in Anfield will actually be though from what he had going on in North London. He was starting less than half the time at The Emirates, and it seems doubtful that Jurgen Klopp will be putting him in the first team much more than that.

In his incoming message to fans, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “I’m currently away with England, so I’m at St George’s Park. Firstly, I’m delighted to have signed for Liverpool and a big thank-you to everyone here at the FA that has made this possible, using the facilities. It has been a massive help.

“I’m not going to say too much today; I’m here with England and we’ve got two big games coming up, so I want to focus on them. But I can’t wait to get to Melwood and you’ll hear first from me on LFCTV.”
