Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata once played alongside striker Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea, and he’s looking forward to potentially reuniting. Chelsea have now reportedly matched United’s £75 million bid, but the consensus still believes that it won’t make a difference and Lukaku will be moving on to United.
Chelsea supposedly maintain that Lukaku prefers them over United, but his agent Mino Raiola would rather seem go to Old Trafford. All the signs point to Man United, with some saying a move could be announced by Saturday.
Lukaku trained with close friend and Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba yesterday at UCLA, the MUFC training site for their preseason tour in the United States. Juan Mata is excited about the idea.
“We played together for Chelsea and he [Lukaku] has had a lot of good seasons at Everton,” Mata told Marca.
“He knows the coach well and scores a lot of goals, which we hope he will carry on so we can try to win the league.”
