West Ham Team News at Sheffield: Alvarez, Fornals, Bowen, Benrahma

The problems are really starting to mount now for West Ham United. The list of unavailable players, due to various reasons, is growing. We have also seen nothing done in the January transfer window, as a way towards filling those holes. Not to mention a FA Cup early exit (at the hands of a mid-table Championship side), after which manager David Moyes gave a less than encouraging update on the status of two more key players Pablo Fornals and Edson Alvarez.

“Pablo (Fornals) picked up a foot injury in training yesterday (Monday),” Moyes told the media.

“He got a kick in the foot which made him unavailable.” Moyes also added the following:

“(Edson) Alvarez felt his calf in training on Friday, so that’s what made him a doubt.”

Meanwhile a calf injury has ruled Lucas Paqueta out for at least a month, but the news is better for Jarrod Bowen. While Bowen is probably 50/50 to play on Sunday, he will not be absent for too much longer beyond this week.

Elsewhere Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd are away on international duty at Africa Cup of Nations whilst Michail Antonio remains on the shelf with a knee injury. The Hammers unavailability concerns continue with Said Benrahma, who will begin serving his three match suspension in this match.
