West Ham United Starting XI Prediction vs KRC Genk (UEL)

West Ham switches their focus from Premier League to Europa League as they look to consolidate their place at the top of Group H. They face their easiest opponent of the group stage in KRC Genk. The Belgian side currently sits in sixth spot in the Belgian League and, on paper at least, seem no match for the high-flying EastLondoners.

The Europa League is traditionally used by Premier League sides as an opportunity to rotate their squad, and West Ham is no different in that regard. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how they might line up against Genk at the Olympic Stadium

West Ham Team News vs KRC Genk (Europa League): Soucek, Kral, Noble

West Ham United will be looking to continue their tremendous start to the season when they face Belgian side KRC Genk in the Europa League this week. David Moyes’ men orchestrated a 1-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League, last time out, in a match I called ‘The Best Of The Rest Trophy.’

Star midfielder Tomas Soucek had to get a couple of stitches after a horrible-looking boot to the face from Salomon Rondon in the Premier League at the weekend. He said with more than a hint of sarcasm that he is “still alive” after the match. Despite him still being alive, I think he might get a rest for this one.

West Ham United Starting XI Prediction vs Everton

With the international break behind us, Premier League action is back! And for the Hammers, that means heading to Goodison Park to face the blue side of the Mersey as they take on Rafa Benitez’ Everton outfit.

This could be a genuine six-pointer if either side can manage to win this one, as they are probably both gunning for the same Europa League spot when the season wraps up in May. With West Ham having a virtually nonexistent injury and suspension list heading into this one, David Moyes will have the luxury of a full first-team squad to choose from.

West Ham Team News vs Everton: Hammers Have Clean Bill of Health

The Premier League is back this weekend and the Irons are back in action, traveling to Goodison Park to take on the Toffees in a clash that is one of the more anticipated fixtures of the weekend. The fact that pits David Moyes against Rafa Benitez only adds to the intrigue.

Sunday will see Moyes heading back to the very place where it really started to take off for him. It’s also a matchup of the two sides who are probably the best teams outside of the current top 4. That’s right, it’s the best of the rest trophy match.

West Ham United Starting XI Prediction vs Brentford FC

West Ham United head into the weekend on the back of some impressive form — having won four of their last five fixtures in all competitions. This week, they face favorable competition in the Bees of Brentford. The Bees have not beaten West Ham since the 1952/53 season.

Interestingly, this will be the London rivals’ first fixture against each other in the top flight of English football. After fielding a slightly rotated team in European competition on Thursday, West Ham will look to return to their first-choice XI, and try to keep their impressive start to the 21/22 Premier League season going.

West Ham Team News vs Brentford: Coufal, Fredericks

After conquering Rapid Wien in the Europa League to keep their impressive run of form going, West Ham United now turns their focus back to the Premier League. This weekend, they welcome Premier League newcomers Brentford in a clash where the Bees will be looking to pounce on any continental hangover the Irons may have.

Brentford went toe to toe with perennial title contender Liverpool last weekend in an entertaining encounter that finished 3-3. Meanwhile West Ham’s last Premier League encounter was a last-gasp win against a struggling Leeds United.

West Ham United Starting XI Prediction vs Rapid Wien

West Ham will be looking to make it two wins from two in the Europa League after having defeated Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 on matchday one of the competition. Their opponents, Rapid Wien, lost to KRC Genk 1-0 in their opening group stage fixture.

Although this competition is highly regarded by the Hammers, they will not look to rest players as much as some of their Premier League counterparts. Rapid Wien shapes up as the easiest opponent of the group stage and they could hand David Moyes an ideal opportunity to rest some star players in the midst of their current hectic schedule.

West Ham Team News vs Rapid Wien: Johnson, Fredericks

After their last-gasp win in the Premier League against Leeds on the weekend, West Ham United now switch their focus to continental football and the Europa League.

On matchday two of UEFA’s second-tier club competition, the Londoners will host Austrian opposition for the first time in their history — welcoming Rapid Wien to the Olympic Stadium. Hoping to create a winning streak out of their back-to-back victories across all competitions, they will face a side that currently sits second to the bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga table.
