Just eleven seconds in, Christian Eriksen opened the scoring at Tottenham Hotspur hosted Manchester United. It’s the second earliest goal in a game in Premier League history, behind only another Tottenham player, club legend Ledley King. His scoring strike in 2000 occurred in just 9.9 seconds officially.
Here’s the thing though- Eriksen’s score should not have counted. Here’s the video:

As Metro explains, “Harry Kane was already well inside United’s half when Spurs took their kick-off and the England striker went on to play a major role in Eriksen breaking the deadlock.”
Spurs should have been instructed by the official on hand to re-take their kickoff. Rules experts on television also indicated that this goal should not have stood, but alas, it did and before you knew it, the home side tacked on another one. Manchester United center half Phil Jones provided an own goal at the 28′, doubling the Tottenham lead.
Christian Eriksen’s goal was his 50th for Tottenham. Since he signed on with the north London side in August of 2013, only striker and franchise cornerstone Harry Kane (128) has scored more for the club.
As it stands right now, Spurs are firmly in control, up 2-0 in the 78′ and very likely on their way to three points against a top four side.
