Eden Hazard Says He’s Staying at Chelsea, Not Going to PSG

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard ruled out speculation that he could be on the move to Paris Saint-Germain today.

“I have a contract until 2020. I don’t want to finish like this,” he told Telefoot. “If I have to leave, I must do it like a boss. Like I did in Lille. PSG are not among my projects right now.”

Hazard comments are a follow up to statements he made on April 14th, in which he denied reports claiming the Blues sold him to Real Madrid. Back then, while appearing on Spanish TV show “Chiringuito de Jugones” he disputed the claims of journalist Eduardo Inda who wrote that Madrid and Chelsea settled on a fee of around £32 million for Hazard.

“I don’t know who’s saying that, but it’s not true,” Hazard told Belgium’s Antenne Centre TV when asked about the report.

“At the moment, I’m at Chelsea. First, I have to finish the season and I still have a contract for four years. I’m there, and I’m currently feeling good over there. I want to be on the pitch as soon as possible. With Chelsea.”

Obviously Hazard was proven right, and Inda’s information was proven to be incorrect, as Hazard is still there.

During this past season, the Chelsea playmaker was just a shred of what he was the previous year when he won the PFA Player of the Year award. Eden Hazard scored just six goals last season and his subpar performance made him emblematic for all that went wrong at Stamford Bridge in 2015-16. Hazard was singled out by some fans as the secondary scapegoat (Jose Mourinho was the primary target).

It’s ironic because back in October, the CIES Football Observatory released their study of individual player values on the global transfer market. Eden Hazard was rated the third most valuable player in the entire world (behind only Messi and Neymar), and tops in all of England.

His transfer value was projected at 130 million Euro, or 96 million British pounds. That’s three times what the reported Los Blancos deal was reported to be.
