Chelsea FC Winger Willian Being Recruited By Jose Mourinho Again

Jose Mourinho wanted to bring Brazilian star Willian with him to Old Trafford this past summer, but the winger felt content to stay with Chelsea. That we learned back in February. Obviously, the Portugese was quite impressed with him during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Willian told Globo Esporte (via Goal) on February 10th: “There were enquiries, yes. It was from Manchester United, because Mourinho is there too.

“From other clubs I don’t know but there are always some things on the internet. I’m glad to hear that there are clubs that admire my work.”

Chelsea has seen a couple players taking off for the Chinese Super League this season, but Willian doesn’t seem himself following suit and going off to China, adding:

“I do not know if I would go or not. What I can say is that I’m happy at Chelsea, I feel very good there, like it’s my home.”

Today brought a report from ESPN FC that Mourinho is targeting Willian again this summer. As you might have heard, today was a very rough day for ESPN, and what is going down there really tells us a lot about the rough shape of the sports media industry.

The Bristol based publication writes:

Mourinho is targeting Chelsea midfielder Willian as part of his summer rebuilding plans at Old Trafford, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mourinho wants to add at least four new signings to his Old Trafford squad ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, with the United boss identifying the need for reinforcements at centre-back and in midfield, as well as aiming to sign two forwards to replace the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney, who is expected to leave the club at the end of this campaign.
