Chelsea FC News and Transfer Talk: Hazard, Sarri, Cech, Caballero

It’s still another week until the UEFA Europa League Final gets here, and thus it’s too early to talk about previewing the match at this point. However, the good news is that we have plenty of Chelsea FC news and transfer narratives to discuss today.

Let’s take a spin through the interwebs and see what’s buzzing right now in the Blues online community.

Hazard has signed! I repeat HAZARD HAS SIGNED!

Ok, just that Hazard, as Eden’s brother Thorgan has switched Borussias. Thorgan Hazard has officially signed for Borussia Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach.

BVB have found their replacement for Christian Pulisic, who may have to replace Eden Hazard, so the transfer domino theory now comes full circle in the same family.

As for Eden Hazard, he’s still widely regarded to be off to join Real Madrid once the UEL Final is over, and yesterday brought an interesting report on that situation from the Daily Mail. According to the British tabloid publication, Chelsea will allow Eden to go to the Spanish capital in order to balance in the books, and meet Financial Fair Play requirements as the two window transfer ban looms.

Elsewhere, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has seen his job status intensively speculated upon all season long, so why should that change now with one game to play?

The Italian, who is still looking for the first major trophy of his coaching career, says that he would quit the club if his job hinged on the final in Baku next week.

“You cannot [do] 10 months of work, and then I have to play everything in 90 minutes? It’s not right,” Sarri said.

“It’s not the right way. You’re either happy about my work or you’re not happy.”

We now conclude this post/link round-up with a couple of goalkeeper items. The club have officially granted a contract extension to backup goalie Willy Cabaellro. He’ll stay on for at least one more season.

Finally, Arsenal and former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech says he is yet to make a decision about his future, and he will do after the Europa finale. Cech disputed the reports linking him with a return to Chelsea in a new sporting director role.
