On his radio show last night from Legends of Notre Dame, Coach Brian Kelly said that he will shave his head should the Fighting Irish win a BCS game this year. He mistakenly first said “shave his head off,” and then corrected himself “shave my hair off,” before adding “that would hurt, wouldn’t it?”
This is to show solidarity for cancer patients and to raise money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help fight children’s cancer. Earlier that day, more than 50 members of the Irish football team shaved their heads in support of the same charity. The act is expected to raise more than $60,000 for cancer research.
“You know, cancer has touched all of our lives in one way or another and we thought it was important to give back,” said Irish quarterback Dayne Crist.
“It’s really caught on with a snowball effect.ย It’s really grown more and more every year, and there’s more and more that goes into it,” Crist said.
Even Michael Floyd, the suspended wide receiver who currently does not have a football role at the school, showed up and shaved his head as well.
