Rapper Fabolous to Rock Penn St. Midnight Madness Event

Snoop Dogg played the Northwestern Midnight Madness event last year. This year another struggling Big Ten program booked an MC to their college basketball party. “Hoops Madness” at Penn State will feature a special performance by top selling rap artist Fabolous.

The Brooklyn-born Fabolous has two Grammy nominations and three million in album sales to his credit. His debut release, Ghetto Fabolous, reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart in 2001 (The same year Nittany Lions had their best season of the modern era. Remember the Crispin brothers upsetting the highly-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels en route to the sweet 16?)

Fabolous has released five albums; Loso’s Way, debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart in 2009. His albums have spawned such hits as “My Time,” Throw It In The Bag,” “Hollaback,” “Into You,” “Breathe,” and “Make Me Better.” He’s been ranked as high as #8 on MTV’s Hottest MC In The Game list. His video for the single “My Time” garnered more than 8.4 million hits on YouTube.

Rec Hall, the former home of Penn State basketball, will host the event Nov. 2. New Nittany Lion coach Patrick Chambers and the 2011-12 Nittany Lions are led by junior guard Tim Frazier. Talor Battle, the program’s all-time leading scorer, and pretty much the entire team for the past four years, is now gone. As are the Lions 2nd, 3rd, and 5th leading scorers from last year.

The event will feature the Pride of Lions Pep Band, Lionettes dance team, Penn State Cheerleaders and the Nittany Lions all leading up to introductions and performances by both teams and a special performance from Fabolous.

Young’n will always be my favorite song of his. Watch video below:
