Patrick Kane, Blackhawks press conference in Tweets

The Chicago Blackhawks and Patrick Kane are in an extremely tough spot. Whether they had stayed silent instead of holding the worthless and pointless press conference that they did this afternoon, it’s a no-win situation. And it’s a no win situation for anybody involved. Make no mistake though, Patrick Kane, and the Blackhawks brass in charge of this thing are not sympathetic characters.

Quite the contrary.

Kane read a basic statement and then dodged every single question that came his way. It was a worthless exercise due to his Miranda Rights. It’s in his best interests to remain silent on the legal issues. Of course, the legal issues are the only actual story here.

Telling the media what can and can’t ask questions about is a recipe for disaster. Journalists can and should ALWAYS ask whatever they want. It’s on the interviewee to decide to answer or not.

Fun fact: Telling reporters which topics they can and cannot ask about is always a smart #PR strategy. #notsmartatallactually

Patrick Kane looked, well, let’s just say he’s looked better damn near every time he’s appeared in public. But give him some credit for at least coming out to face the music.

Asking Patrick Kane if he’s going to consider trying to stop drinking was a very fair and balanced question. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not a journalist and doesn’t understand the job of the journalist.

Nobody “won” the press conference today. Certainly not Patrick Kane. There was a loser in this endeavor though- Blackhawks President John McDonough, and that’s a whole separate article which we’ll deal complete now.

How many "I appreciate the question but it's a legal matter" were there from Patrick Kane? #Blackhawks
