President of the United States Barack Obama has decided not to release photographs of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden’s body, a senior administration official told NBC News on Wednesday.

“We don’t need to spike the football” he said about the decision.

Having looked at the photos himself, Pres. Obama says “there is no doubt we killed Osama bin-Laden.”

Obama also announced the decision not to release post-mortem photos during an interview Wednesday with CBS’ “60 Minutes.” The decision comes a day after CIA director Leon Panetta said that a photo proving the death of bin Laden “would be presented to the public,” but the comment quickly drew a response from the White House saying no decision has yet been made.

CIA denies bin Laden was captured before killed 04 May 2011 The CIA categorically denies two stories coming out of Pakistan, sourced to bin Laden family members: 1) that Osama bin Laden was captured at the scene and then killed minutes afterward; this from his daughter. 2) that a second bin Laden son, Mohammed, was thrown on the chopper as it departed Abbottabad. “We categorically deny both of those,” said a CIA spokesman.

Bin Laden killing lawful, says US –Critics have raised concerns about the legality of the operation. 04 May 2011 US Attorney General Eric Holder has said that al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was a lawful military target. He told the Senate Judiciary Committee that Bin Laden had made no attempt to surrender, and his killing was “an act of national self-defence”. The US has acknowledged that Bin Laden was unarmed when he was shot dead in Monday’s raid by US Navy Seals in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
