Man United Reach £45m Deal with Crystal Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The long, tedious Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer saga is set to finally come to an end as Manchester United and Crystal Palace have now reached agreement on the final sale price. The 21-year-old right back will now move to Old Trafford from London for an initial £45 million fee, with add-ons pushing the total price to £50m.

He will be United’s fifth most expensive player ever behind only Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Angel Di Maria and Fred. Wan-Bissaka also becomes the most expensive defender in MUFC history, as he fills a major void at right back.

With Antonio Valencia departing, Ashley Young a poor first team option, and other players on the roster who are just not starting XI material, AWB should slot immediately into the first team.

According to the BBC, the reigning Crystal Palace Player of the Year “is set to travel for a medical imminently before going on holiday. United have offered Wan-Bissaka a long-term contract and wages of up to £80,000 a week. He is on £10,000 a week at Selhurst Park, the lowest-paid player in Palace’s first-team squad.”

Wan-Bissaka will become the club’s second signing this summer, joining winger Daniel James, with the club set to open training camp in just five days time.

The Guardian reports that the Wan-Bissaka deal included a condition stating that United will retain a 20% sell on clause for Palace star Wilfried Zaha, who they sent to the club in 2015.
