Man United Twitter Makes David de Gea Joke in Reference to 280 Characters

This week saw Twitter rollout the expansion to 280 allotted characters per Tweet (but still no edit button for some reason), doubling the previous total of 140. With this substantial change, Twitter users all across the world voiced their opinions about the switch on the micro-blogging platform.

The football world was very much a part of the social media banter as well. The official Manchester United account, @ManUtd got in on the fun too, making this rather clever tweet about their all-world goalkeeper David de Gea:

With the introduction of #280characters, we are delighted to announce #DaveSaves will be extended to #DavidSaves. pic.twitter.com/S7PNq2Ip0S

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 8, 2017

Which led to their followers reacting to the Twitter posting about the team’s #1:

Catchy! ? #280characters https://t.co/aulSd71J2z

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 8, 2017

@ManUtd just decided to retain the status quo however.

Due to popular demand, we'll keep it as #DaveSaves! #280characters pic.twitter.com/trQis7ncLZ

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 8, 2017

However, if you want to know who won the #280characters discussion, it’s clearly whoever this person is. This is offering is pithy and just point blank- brilliant!

Hell, this person won the hashtag game for the week, the month, the year. Imagine having this person’s phone, and the notifications going off 420,000 times or whatever it was combined.
