“Is this Heaven Ray, no it’s Iowa.” You probably know that famous line from the classic Kevin Costner Baseball movie “Field of Dreams.” And if there’s one thing Kevin Costner does well, it’s baseball movies. The line also serves as the perfect marketing slogan for the state of Iowa, a place where Alexa.com tells me, The Sports Bank is HUGE!
Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be exact. And to think we don’t even have a Cedar Rapids Kernels (single A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels) beat writer…yet.
According to the TSB profile on Alexa.com:
While the site is ranked #146,403 in the US, where we estimate that 52% of its visitors are located, it is also popular in Costa Rica, where it is ranked #6,269. Approximately 33% of visits to the site are referred by search engines. Visitors to it spend roughly 69 seconds on each pageview and a total of 86 seconds on the site during each visit. Thesportsbank.net has a relatively good traffic rank in the city of Cedar Rapids-Waterloo (#4,837).
Wow! I guess we’re huge in Iowa’s 2nd largest city, and we don’t have an Iowa Hawkeyes person. If you would like to be our Hawkeyes writer, email me and send me your clips. Click the sidebar on the left side, the entry WRITE FOR US for instructions on how.
I also found it pretty cool that we’re also huge in a city with the same name as an ABBA song. Yes, I know it’s in reference to the European city of Waterloo, where Napoleon surrendered; not the community in Iowa.
