The Iowa Hawkeyes have dismissed Marcus Collins from the team today . The Iowa Hawkeyes linebacker was charged with an alcohol related offense early Friday morning.
“Marcus was currently serving a three game suspension,” said Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz in a statement.
“He has now been dismissed from our football program. We will assist Marcus as he pursues other options to continue his career. We wish him the best moving forward.”
Marcus Collins is a native of Yeadon, Pa. The junior has played in six games, primarily on special teams, recording six tackles and one forced fumble. Obviously legal problems with Iowa Hawkeyes football players is nothing new. Their tailback depth has finally recovered somewhat; as it was decimated by both legal problems and injuries.
Collins is obviously not a big part of what the Iowa Hawkeyes do, but they could use all hands on deck this week at linebacker versus Wisconsin tomorrow. Linebacker depth will be key for the Hawkeyes defense against that power inside running game of the Badgers.
