Josh Selby is one of the biggest best-that-never-was that you’ll ever find. In case you’re wondering, Josh Selby last played for Cedevita Zagreb of the Croatian League. He left them in February and is still trying to catch on somewhere. Selby played one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks (in which he’ll still be remembered most for his ineligibility, suspension and injuries). This on the heels of being a the #5 overall recruit by Scout, and the #1 overall by a lesser recruiting service.
Josh Selby was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 49th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. His NBA career was….well, calling it a cup of coffee is an insult to Starbucks. Those grander cappucinos cost a lot, and Josh Selby never brought any value to the Grizz.
“The Basketball Tournament” is a new basketball tournament launching this June in Philadelphia. From June 6-8, 32 teams will compete for $500,000 at Philadelphia University, with the championship game held on June 28.

So it’s another, perhaps the final shot for Josh Selby to establish himself and build a solid, genuine professional basketball career. The NCAA cartel is beyond stupid and hypocritical, so they need to shoulder some blame for what happened to Josh Selby, placing all those land mines in the way of what was his brief college hoops career. However, how come he didn’t make it after that? Anywhere? Maybe this time the story will turn out different.
