Round 4
1. Antonio Gates
2. Dallas Clark
Notes: I suppose you could make a case for drafting a TE in the fourth round for PPR-leagues, but I tend to grab a TE no earlier than round 5…..With V-Jax suspended and possibly holding-out for the season, Gates looks to have a huge role once again for the Chargers.
Round 5, 6, 7
3. Jermichael Finley
4. Brent Celek
5. Vernon Davis
6. Tony Gonzalez
7. Jason Witten
Notes: Witten is undervalued in many drafts, especially in PPR-leagues. The man finished with 94 catches and 1,030 yards despite only having two touchdowns last season. The crazy part is that many people have written him off because of the lack of TDs. Don’t make that mistake, he’s a stud….I love Finley’s ability and his upside, but I hesitate to rank him any higher. Donald Lee will continue to see the field, because he is a better blocker than Finley. Lee will also steal some red-zone looks.
Round 8, 9, 10
8. Zach Miller
9. Kellen Winslow
10. Chris Cooley
11. Visanthe Shiancoe
Notes: This group is a perfect example why you can wait on the TE position in drafts. Miller and Winslow have potential to be in the top-5, but you can get them at a great price.
Round 11, 12
12. Dustin Keller
13. Owen Daniels
14. John Carlson
15. Heath Miller
16. Greg Olsen
Notes: Any of these TEs make for great #2’s with upside to be starters. The most interesting player is Daniels, who was a top-5 TE before getting hurt last season.
