Remember five years ago when the Duke lacrosse rape case dominated the headlines for what seemed like forever? And remember those kids were found innocent. And now it turns out, the woman who accused them turned out to be not exactly the greatest person in the world.
Crystal Mangum, who claimed three Duke lacrosse players raped her in 2006, is now facing murder charges after he (now former) live-in boyfriend she allegedly stabbed, passed away last night.
According to ABC News:
Mangum, 32, allegedly stabbed live-in boyfriend Reginald Daye, 46, during an April 3 argument. According to Durham, N.C., police, Mangum stabbed him in the torso with a kitchen knife. He was taken to Duke University Hospital and treated for serious injuries. Daye died Wednesday evening, according to police.
“More than likely, we will be upgrading the charge to murder,” Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez Sr. told The Herald Sun of Durham Wednesday.
