Detroit Lions: LOLions and “Lionsing” are real

Only the Detroit Lions can lose when their defense gives up just six field goals. Only the Detroit Lions can turn the ball over 3+ times in 5 straight games. Only the Detroit Lions could lose a Monday Night Football game, and possibly the NFC North title and a playoff berth on a 61-yard field goal. Remember the all time NFL record is 64. Yes, Lionsing is indeed a real phenomenon. And your Detroit Lions are truly the LOLions.

We’ve covered how Clemson engages in Clemsoning, and how Northwestern often performs Northwesterning. Consult UrbanDictionary.com for a quick refresher on both of those. Now we have Lionsing.

When I said only the Detroit Lions can do some Lionsing, I lied. See the Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo. Then look at Matthew Stafford. Kind of the same thing isn’t it? Romo and Stafford in the 4th quarter? Ick. Romo and Stafford in December? Yikes! The Detroit Lions have lost their last 8 games in the months of December and January. To quote Yoda “that is why you fail.”

The NFL playoffs have now turned into March Madness in the sense that it’s just win and and get in. And it has and always has been “one and done.” The last three Super Bowl champs have all had 6+ losses. It’s really who gets hot at the right time. And the Detroit Lions have been ice cold when it counts.

As I wrote on November 25 in “Detroit Lions own stupidity keeps them from controlling the NFC North:”

They’re like the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA; very talented, but playing dumb. Very dumb. Every games. They make stupid plays, dirty plays, commit dumb penalties, and get stupid penalties for playing dirty.

Nothing’s changed in the past 22 days.
