Hurricane Sandy cancels Penn State media day

October 29, 2012 By paulmbanks

The effects of Hurricane Sandy, and the Frankenstorm are already being felt long before it made landfall on the Jersey Shore. The effects are being felt well inland- including central rural, landlocked Pennsylvania. … [Read more...] about Hurricane Sandy cancels Penn State media day

Big Ten Mid-Season Review

October 16, 2012 By paulmbanks

Braxton Miller escapes tackle

About a month ago we gave a quarterly review of the performance of each Big Ten team and graded them based on how they did, compared to how they should have done according to pre-season expectations. Now, we have our mid-season review in which each school’s grade is based on its  overall/ conference record, and how the team has  improved or declined since  the first quarter of … [Read more...] about Big Ten Mid-Season Review

Purdue to challenge for Leaders Division title?

October 11, 2012 By paulmbanks

If there was ever a time for the Boilermakers to seize the moment, this is, most definitely, the season to do it! This may seem like “old news,” and that I am working toward an incredibly obvious conclusion, but a new factor has been added to the equation: Wisconsin is not nearly as good as they were believed to be. As the season began, the assumption was that since Ohio … [Read more...] about Purdue to challenge for Leaders Division title?

Penn St sued for $4 million by Mike McQueary

October 3, 2012 By paulmbanks

With all the vacated Joe Paterno wins, the last time Penn State won a football game, officially, Mike McQueary was the quarterback. Today he's suing the school where he made his name for $4 million- which is probably much much more than the victims of Jerry Sandusky will get. McQueary is seeking whistleblower status and wrongful termination damages. Right now he's unhirable … [Read more...] about Penn St sued for $4 million by Mike McQueary

Big Ten Football Quarterly Review

September 18, 2012 By paulmbanks

Believe it or not, the college football season is a quarter over, and we are only a week away from the kick-off of Big Ten conference play! With only three games played this season, it may seem a bit soon to be handing out letter grades, but these first three weeks can be very telling as to what may be in store for the rest of the season. Each team will receive a letter … [Read more...] about Big Ten Football Quarterly Review

Week Two Unkind To Big Ten

September 11, 2012 By paulmbanks

For about half the conference last Saturday, week two could not have been much worse.  Penn State lost a second straight nail-biter with a  17-16 defeat at the hands of  Virginia, which ended  with Sam Ficken missing his fourth field goal of the day! The Nebraska defense gave up 653 yards to UCLA in their 36-30 loss. Iowa could only muster six points in their 9-6 defeat by Iowa … [Read more...] about Week Two Unkind To Big Ten

Don Van NattaJr., ESPN.com is reporting that the family of Joe Paterno has sent a letter of appeal concerning the NCAA's Penn State sanctions. Life after sanctions for Penn State, Jordan Hill and company

July 31, 2012 By paulmbanks

penn-state

Defensive tackle Jordan Hill is arguably the best player on the current Penn State team (assuming Silas Redd leaves as he's rumored to be doing so). Hill was at Big Ten Media Day, so I asked him other than wins how does this team heal? "Being together, being through this.  Going out and just playing football. You know if we just sat there and gave up, we would regret it for … [Read more...] about Life after sanctions for Penn State, Jordan Hill and company

Penn State lucky to avoid television banishment

July 30, 2012 By paulmbanks

For all the talk of the death penalty, and what Penn State got sanctioned with, (and what they didn't get sanctioned with) one penalty would have hit PSU very hard had it been applied- a television ban. Penn St. athletic director David Joyner was at Big Ten Media Day, and he discussed how much tv coverage of the team means to his program: … [Read more...] about Penn State lucky to avoid television banishment

Will the Big 10 give Penn State the boot?

July 22, 2012 By paulmbanks

penn-state-recruiting

In the wake of the Jerry Sandusky trial and the cover-up by Penn State officials of the fact that Jerry Sandusky was sexually abusing children, there has been much speculation on what the future holds for the Penn State football program. What sanctions will the program face? Will the Paterno statue be taken down? Will the NCAA remove the football team from the school … [Read more...] about Will the Big 10 give Penn State the boot?
