With Michigan’s recent loss to Iowa, there have been talks about Brady Hoke and others on his staff being on the hot seat. A 7-4 record is not where Michigan was expected to be going into the Ohio State game, but 7-4 is no reason to make any rash decisions.

More people are calling for the head of Al Borges than they are for the scalp of Brady Hoke. But that doesn’t mean Brady Hoke isn’t feeling intense heat right now.

Michigan Wolverines suspend safety Thomas Gordon

Two short seasons after starting his Michigan Wolverines career on one of the nation’s worst defenses, Thomas Gordon, with the help of Brady Hoke, enters his senior season as an anchor on one of the nation’s best defensive units.

Then again, they’ll start two safeties today with zero combined starts. The Michigan Wolverines suspended Thomas Gordon today for the game versus Western Michigan.

SEC and ESPN finalize SEC network

Today, the SEC and ESPN announced their partnership in forming an SEC network. The deal will give ESPN the rights to all SEC sports on television. However, CBS will still be able to keep one SEC game of the week, keeping a longstanding arrangement between CBS and the SEC.

The SEC Network deal runs until 2034. Making it the longest television deal in history. Not the longest college football deal, the longest ever television deal.

Joe Paterno’s Family Appeals Penn State Sanctions

Don Van NattaJr., ESPN.com is reporting that the family of Joe Paterno has sent a letter of appeal concerning the NCAA‘s Penn State sanctions. The letter, received by the NCAA on Friday, asks that the sanctions against Penn State and Joe Paterno for covering up the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal be appealed.

A copy of the letter has fallen into the hands of ESPN’s Outside the Lines, a podcast that airs Sunday mornings and is available for download here.

New Under Armour Northwestern uniforms: is this “it?”

Northwestern and Under Armour recently unveiled the new uniforms that the Wildcats will wear this season. Cutting their ties with Adidas after last season, Northwestern is the first Big Ten school to have Under Armour as their official apparel provider.

Although what Under Armour created for Northwestern is kind of sharp looking, I am, for the most part, disappointed.

Brady Hoke Indefinitely Suspends Fitz Toussaint From Michigan

After his arrest Saturday night for driving under the influence, Fitzgerald Toussaint was suspended indefinitely by head coach Brady Hoke. This will be costly for the Wolverine offense as Toussaint is, or was, their number one running back. As a redshirt junior in 2011, Toussaint ran for 1,041 yards and nine touchdowns, second on the team only to Denard Robinson.

Will the Big 10 give Penn State the boot?

In the wake of the Jerry Sandusky trial and the cover-up by Penn State officials of the fact that Jerry Sandusky was sexually abusing children, there has been much speculation on what the future holds for the Penn State football program.

What sanctions will the program face?

Will the Paterno statue be taken down?

Will the NCAA remove the football team from the school altogether for a period of time (the Death Penalty)?

However, few have asked what the Big Ten will do with the program. Could the Big Ten decide to remove Penn State from the conference?
