Welcome to the first ever NFL quarterback power rankings. These are not based simply on what they’ve accomplished, or who has the better stats as of this moment, or of what they may accomplish someday. No, this factors in all of those things; and more. Simply put, if you could draft anyone right now to be your signal caller in 2013. This is the order in how I would do it.
This is who I think is better overall today, commence the NFL quarterback power rankings. Highly subject to debate. Go nuts in the comments section. Feel free to post your own NFL quarterback power rankings in the comment threads.
32. Blaine Gabbert
He’s a top 32 QB in the NFL. Period.
31. Christian Steele, Christine Steele….well, whatever, Christian Ponder is soon demoted for Josh Freeman.
And Freeman ranks right in this range anyway.
30. Mike Glennon
He started out the season behind Freeman. ‘Nuff said.
29. Carson Palmer
Ugh. Next!
28. Ryan Fitzpatrick
not a true legitimate starter in this league. I know this slot should go to Jake Locker eventually. Who played really well; 6 TD 0 INT
27. Brandon Weeden
It’s a shame Hoyer is not healthy. We deserve to see a full season of him at QB1
26. Geno Smith
If I had to rate Sanchez instead, he’d be #34.
25. Terrelle Pryor
Has played very well, but maybe defensive coordinators will figure out the man who coined the phrase “everybody kills people, murders people, steals from me, steals from you.” If they don’t, I’ll move him way up. His numbers have been exceptional.
24. Matt Schaub
Sorry. I hope putting him this low doesn’t inspire more lunatics to lash out at the poor guy.
23. Cam Newton
Tell me again why this guy is a #1 overall selected, franchise player?
22. EJ Manuel
I didn’t like the pick on draft day, but he’s won me over since then.
21. Sam Bradford
Tell me again why this guy is a #1 overall selected, franchise player?
20. Ryan Tannehill
Has potential to be a top 15 guy
19. Colin Kaepernick
So overrated and fluky. Gimmicky product of the read-option trend
18. Alex Smith
Like Yoda said “we must unlearn what we have learned”… about this guy. His career has turned around, but we have memories of who he was.
17. Andy Dalton
What’s holding the Bengals back from being elite
16. Tony Romo
numbers justify ranking him higher, but perception begets reality.
15. Mike Vick
not elite, but not bad for a NFL quarterback
14. Jay Cutler
So despite all that hulabaloo, Boomer Esiason was essentially right about him.
13. Eli Manning
Yes, his horrendous play this season bumps him all the way down here.
12. Matt Stafford
Tell me again why this guy is a #1 overall selected, franchise player? Well, actually he is. Quite good actually
11. Russell Wilson
dual threat
10. Robert Griffin III
dual threat part deux
9. Joe Flacco
still not worth the money
8. Ben Roethlisberger
character issues were not considered
7. Phillip Rivers
being an a-hole was not a factor either
6. Matt Ryan
having a lame nickname does not count against you
5. Andrew Luck
having a corn maze made in your honor does not help you up the rankings. But it doesn’t hurt either.
4. Aaron Rodgers
having made the WORST COMMERCIAL IN THE HISTORY OF ADVERTISING (“Discount DA..ble check!”) does not count against you either
3. Drew Brees
Will go down as one of the greats. Dan Fouts; with a SB ring.
2. Tom Brady
your second best NFL quarterback. Don’t overrate what he did yesterday. As awesome as it was though indeed.
1. Peyton Manning
your best NFL quarterback
