Boston lockdown.
B Strong as the entire city of Boston and it’s surrounding suburbs are urging its citizens to remain inside as they continue hunting for the surviving suspect from the Boston marathon bombing. The Boston lockdown includes a no-fly-zone and both the Boston Bruins contest vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Red Sox taking on the K.C. Royals have been officially cancelled. This would have been the Red Sox first home game since the Boston Marathon bombings.
MLB and NHL games are really insignificant at a time like this. This is unprecedented!
An entire major city and large metropolitan area shut down.
The city is being controlled by SWAT teams and an army of police trying to keep everyone indoors by shutting down the entire public transportation system, closing schools and ordering businesses to remain closed for the day. So I doubt many people will be holding sporting events. And I doubt a lot of fans will want to attend one.
I know it’s a very fluid situation, as we’re getting new facts in all the time. And there’s so much we don’t know, but I’ll try to keep everyone updated on the Boston lockdown throughout the day. B Strong!
From the Daily Mail:
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority subway and commuter rail system is shut down until further notice as officials try to keep citizens off the streets following the fatal shoot out in Watertown early Friday morning that lead to the death of the first suspect.
Amtrak services in the area around Boston has been suspended indefinitely, keeping people- including 19-year-old suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev- from leaving the city.
In the wake of this week’s horrific events in Boston…we are all Bostonians. This atrocity takes on an added level of outrage, sadness and disgust as it occurred on Patriots Day. As of April 15, 2013 we are all Patriots. We are all Patriots fans today. Even New York Jets are.
Because Patriots Day actually has nothing to do with the NFL team, the New England Patriots. It’s a Revolutionary War Memorial Holiday. I changed my Twitter and Facebook avatars to the Boston strong.
American solidarity.
We need to stand with “America’s Athens” during the Boston lockdown. Their streets are a ghost town right now, and we all need to support them in their hour of need. Even during 9/11, New York City wasn’t locked down like this.
